Kate Chen is a sophomore at Duke University studying Computer Science and Innovation & Entrepreneurship. In the 2017 city council re-election, she served as Bellevue Councilmember Conrad Lee’s campaign manager.
Mason Ji is a 2016 Rhodes Scholar and former delegate to the United Nations General Assembly, working as an advisor representing the Republic of Seychelles to the UN. At age 18, he was the youngest UN delegate. At the UN, he worked on the issues of nuclear disarmament, human rights, and climate change. He co-authored a document that contributed to the 2014 USChina climate change joint announcement and was also a USChina mediator and engaged in English-Chinese translation and simultaneous interpreting. In 2015, he was named a White House Ambassador for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, traveling across the country to engage with minorities and addressing issues confronting the pan-Asian community. He was awarded the Henry James Teneyck Prize at Yale for public speaking and public service, and was recognized as 25 under 25 Leaders in US-China Relations. Mason graduated summa cum laude from Yale University in 2016 with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Global Affairs and Political Science. He graduated from the University of Oxford in 2017 with a Master’s of Science in Global Governance and Diplomacy. He was a Udall Scholar and was named a Yale John Heinz Fellow. He has published in both English and Chinese.
