Pathway Foundation Annual Conference 2020:
Community Empowerment

September 27th, 2020
Online Event
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM PDT

Join us at the Pathway Foundation’s 2020 Annual Conference on September 27th, 2020 as we discuss and learn about civic engagement, as well as the college admission process.

Guest Speaker: Robert Rose

Robert Rose has been the owner of Brant Photographers, in Bellevue since 1985, following in his father’s footsteps. He has also been a member of Bellevue Rotary Club since 1985. As a Rotary exchange student to Calcutta, India in 1974-1975 when he was 16 years old, Rob experienced the good and the bad, rich and poor in a developing country.

In 1997, Rob read an article about the impoverished lives of children living in Nepal. He made a phone call to volunteer his photographic expertise to help out a nonprofit organization based in California that was providing assistance to children in Nepal. That one call started a cascade of events that has led to a volunteer odyssey spanning twenty-three years and impacting thousands. With that in mind, Rob’s keynote topic for our Pathways Civic Engagement conference is, ‘On the Turn of a Dime’: how a single, serendipitous phone call changed his life-path, leading him toward helping others, having a positive impact and leaving a lasting legacy.

In 2006 Rob and his spouse Gina formed The Rose International Fund for Children (www.TRIFC.org) a non-profit organization dedicated to ‘Lifting Those Left Behind’ to expand and enhance their work helping children and adults with disabilities in Nepal. Rob has initiated many humanitarian grant projects in Nepal including a major Rotary initiative to help uplift people with disabilities throughout the country who had long suffered from neglect and discrimination. In our own area, Rob initiated and helped organize, ‘Inspiration Playground’ in the Downtown Bellevue Park. An inclusive, all-ability playground whose goal is to get people with and without disabilities together in an outdoor play environment. This was a partner project between the City of Bellevue and Bellevue Rotary Club.
